DIEGO RIVERA’S LESSON FOR GRAFFITI ARTISTS
First off if you are un-familiar with Rivera’s mural work you are missing important Mexican art. You might not even know his wife Frida’s work.
Shame. SMH.
Okay.
Click here for a quick flash page on the exhibit works with info for Rivera’s show at MoMA. I know his work from seeing it at the Detroit Institute of Arts as a kid. He’s sickwitit!
What graf could learn comes from a complaint I have heard from MANY graf fine artists. PROBLEM is a building wall is not TRANSPORTABLE or TRANSFERABLE to a gallery or museum. DIEGO RIVERA felt the same so he utilized a COMPOSITE CONCRETE material for his installation CANVASES so his work would be experienced as if it was a building wall porous surface and all that.
Peep the grains and flecks in his pieces.
Peep brush strokes.
This is at MoMA.
LEARN SOMETHING then INTEGRATE!
UP with Graffiti
UP with Rivera
UP with ART!
